...increase since last October of 453. Of this increase, 101 came by transfer or deposit from the Harvard College Library, and 222 came by gift from various contributors. The largest number of books came from Professor Barrett Wendell, from Mr. Albert Matthews of Boston, and from Messrs. Houghton, Mifflin & Company. By the beginning of next year all important works of English literature will be in the library, besides many works necessary for the study of philosophy and languages.
