Rocky tries doing commercials, getting a white-collar job, getting his old meat-hauling job, and even toting water in the old gym. These scenes depart most from the old Rocky, but they're also the most deadly in the new film. Sure enough, eventually both Rocky's instincts and the need for something more exciting to end the movie with than Rocky staring at his comatose wife force Stallone to backtrack...

...THINK that this quick view of the apocalypse is enough to have an impact. But aside from the fact that one never sees the wave hit Sydney, the reasons given for its appearance aren't too terribly plausible. There is a magnificent scene which sets up the wave, the highpoint of the film: Chamberlain is in his car and daydreams that the wave has hit and as he looks outside he sees well-dressed pedestrians floating beneath the blue-gray water, groceries floating slowly upwards. But this scene occurs three-quarters of the way through the movie...

Despite the State's changing defenses, the second half repeated the first. The 19 points of N.C.'s highpointer, Fly "The Glide" Austin were insufficient as his frustrated team trailed throughout by as much as 24 points. Texas' Jim Krivac was highpoint scorer with 33, and ball control that made basketball look like a little man's game...
