There are many reasons for the absence of the heroic impulse among all these actors, and in fairness it must be said that the fault does not lie entirely in the stars. Everyone knows this is not a particularly heroic historical moment. It is difficult to find many real-life heroes to identify with, and this thins the soil out of which larger-than-life movie figures can be expected to grow.
