...picture on the cover (I believe) months ago. [July 31, 1939.] Somehow or other that review stuck in my mind as it must have stuck in the rest of the non-political minds of America and when the Presidential question began to be mulled over I guess we all thought of him simultaneously. Maybe it's clairvoyancy - but you, my dear TIME, are without a doubt at the bottom...
Bound In Morocco. General Auguste Noguès (pronounced "no-guess"), commander in chief of North Africa and Resident General of Morocco, had crisply announced that all territory under him would continue to be held, his crack Moroccan armies continue to fight. When Edouard Daladier arrived at Casablanca to argue with him, General Noguès, who served under the late, great Marshal Lyautey in building France's African Empire, arrested M. M.'s Board Chairman Alfred Pritchard Sloan Jr. was the purchase of Engineering Projects, Inc., of Dayton, Ohio. Best guess as to the price: something less than $500,000, plus royalties. Named to head G. M.'s new Aeroproducts Division was Engineering Projects' president, 40-year-old Werner J. Blanchard. He has designed a constant-speed propeller with hollow hub for light cannon, now has under Army test a prop of new design...
