While I do not concur with all statements coming out of the Moral Majority position, I appreciate that some Christian group is taking a moral stand. The mainline churches have done much to encourage moral disorder by pressing the idea that Christianity is evolutionary and under the control of current-day consensus...
...predict. But the poll did ask whether voters were looking forward to Election Day or whether they wished they did not have to make any choice at all. Thirty percent say they would rather avoid making a selection. That figure, moreover, rises to 55% among the undecided, the very group now tending toward President Carter. What is more, fully one-third of minority group voters who are heavily for Carter share this lingering reluctance to vote. And it will be these reluctant voters who are likely to make up their minds, once and for all, only in the final hours...
Middle East. One group of top Israeli officials argues that Carter, despite his tilt toward Egypt in the peace talks, is at least a known quantity. Says a government official: "We do not know what Reagan is going to say or what he is going to do if he becomes President." To make them even...
There have been other initiatives as well. A parents' group called the Committee to Stop Children's Murders (Stop) set up shop in June at a local mall, established a 24-hour hotline, and began undertaking some detective work on its own. It receives 20 to 50 calls a day, but not one tip has panned out. Schools are scheduling lessons on street safety taught by visiting police; television coverage has included a film re-enacting some of the crimes; and police fraternal organizations are distributing 100,000 bumper stickers reading: KIDS, DON'T GO WITH STRANGERS...
