Yesterday afternoon the University batteries held their first practice in the Cage at Soldiers Field. Eight catchers and 24 pitchers reported. From the group some good material is available. Applications for boxes at the Junior Dance must be made by March 1 to T. S. Lamont '21, CRIMSON Building, instead of to G. S. Baldwin '21, as was previously announced. Boxes will hold from six to twelve couples -- not more. Each group must appoint a chairman, who should make the application. Applications must contain the names of all the members of the class who are to occupy the boxes with the names of the girls they will bring. Boxes will be awarded by lot. Unlike a city which has several competing newspapers, each standing for the interests of some group in the community, the University has to depend for its daily journalistic representation on one paper. In order that this representation may be as true a one as possible there should be on the board men standing for all possible points of view. Inasmuch, however, as Harvard probably contains more different types than any other American college, it would be impossible for a paper to adopt a consistent policy satisfying every type.
