This isn’t purely a matter of acting, either. At the Lyttelton, Tim Hatley’s set design was a stroke of genius. True to White’s claim, the paintings and titles in this exhibition are simple, but suggest complex implications. Entering the exhibit, the viewer is immediately confronted by a row of beaming all American girls taking part in a swimsuit competition and a photograph of shining, brand-new-car emblems of suburban bliss.
