So thanks to the holiday rush, a young man fresh from the ranks of the unemployed has a new--albeit tenuous--start in a new job, and a middle-aged government employee has weekend fun and some extra money.
Harvard again flexed its lobbying muscles in Washington earlier this year, helping to win back government funding for teaching hospitals after deep cuts put hospitals across the country in the red.
"That is expensive to do, that is not done by community hospitals and that is what is under threat of disappearing because of [funding] cuts," said Jane H. Corlette, associate vice president for government, community and public affairs.
But these elections--and the House elections in the fall--are an embarrassment to an otherwise capable organization. Whatever the final numbers are tomorrow for voter turnout, this election season has been marked by council-mocking and general student apathy toward our elected government.
