...first of the fall baseball series of five games was played on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon between teams chosen from the two squads. The game started out well and promised to be a close one until the eighth inning, when Putnam's team made six runs. After this Marean's team slumped and allowed two more runs in the ninth inning...
...touchdown. Exeter's line plays, especially a rolling tandem formation on tackles, were effective, and made the score for the first half even, 6 to 6. In the second half Brill and Hutchinson exchanged punts, a slight superiority in the Freshman ends giving Hutchinson an apparent advantage. Finally, with five minutes to play, Exeter renewed her attack on the Freshman line, which was now weakened by substitutes, and scored with ease. Strassburger's attempt at goal hit the cross-bar. After the kickoff, Exeter was held for downs, and two end runs by Hutchinson tied the score. Hutchinson's punt...

Finally near the end of the half Daly made a skilful drop-kick goal from the twenty-five yard line...

Most of the ground was gained by Putnam, who was sent through right tackle on every other play. The next touchdown was made in the same way, West Point in both cases making a plucky stand on the two yard line. The last touchdown was the result of Daly's brilliant run of seventy yards after catching a punt. During the rest of the game the play was even and the half ended with...
