A worse time for shooting could hardly have been chosen, for the wind which swept across the grounds in chilly gusts imparted a velocity to the pigeons which rendered the attainment of satisfactory scores almost an impossibility. Complaint has been made by the captain of the foot ball eleven, that members of the second eleven, and sometimes of the first, are not out on Jarvis Field with anything like the proper degree of promptness. Lack of practice should certainly not be a ground of excuse for any weakness in the playing, and as the afternoons are growing very short, it is to be hoped that men will do their duty and turn out on time if they expect to retain their places...

Then the backs do not play as well as we had hoped. The kicking is not as good as that of last year; the punts are not long enough. The backs should be out on the field practising kicking every afternoon long before the eleven arrives. Then too the goal kicking must be improved. It is disheartening to work hard for a touchdown and then lose the goal. Nothing discourages an eleven like that. The goal kicker must make himself as sure as he possibly can by constant, unflagging practice...
