...three over-30 professional friends who provide her material. The show has gained notice for its frontal nudity, lewd puns and sex moves that Mike and Carol Brady would never have contemplated. But really, Sex and the City is groundbreaking because it's about the mundaneness of sex--to fake or not to fake, how to coach a man in bed. Even the sex scenes are comic because, like good art and bad porn, they show sex in all its sloppy awkwardness. When Carrie is introduced to a New York Yankees star, he's impressed by her job. "Nothing dull...

...often happens with technical glitches, Earthmate mysteriously springs to life a few seconds after I get on the line with tech support. When Karyn pulls up in her blue Saturn, I fake a confident smile: "This will be really cool." She looks skeptical as I plug in the car adapter ($120 from Port, based in Norwalk, Conn.) that will power my Toshiba laptop from her cigarette lighter. But right on cue, a green dot pinpoints our starting location on a detailed map and then morphs into an arrow as we reach the West Side Highway...

...enough to watch a full half-hour of them? More than once? Sober? The idea and execution here are adequate: chimps run a network on which they parody current TV shows and make fun of Hollywood. Just in case Ted Turner could resist talking chimps, the creators have the fake network run by a mean, stupid Australian mogul to mock Turner's rival, Rupert Murdoch. The real fear is that TBS's Turner might turn this show into an actual channel. Chimps all day may sound appealing, but you probably need some midgets and bikinied women to round out even...

Bush will always call himself pro-life, but it looks as if he is going to fake right and move left (or is it the other way around?) in hopes that pro-choicers will think he's secretly their friend and would never ban abortion. If I had to guess, I would say he is either like his father, seemingly indifferent, or like his mother, seemingly pro-choice. But why should voters have to guess? If he really believes that every abortion is the taking of a human life, would he throw in the towel because not enough hearts agreed...
