Mr. Crabtree (Secretary of the National Education Association) complains that chain stores and mail order houses pick up profits in villages which are taxed at the headquarters in a far away place. We wish Mr. Crabtree would explain just how this is done, as profits are taxed under the Federal Income Tax law and I supposed that the taxes went to Washington whether the owners of a business lived in the village where it is conducted or in a large city far away.
