...game yesterday was almost as stupid as the one on Tuesday. As then the nine was very weak at the bat. This at present seems to be its chief fault. The infield did not play as good a game as usual all making an error apiece with the exception of Whittemore and he had but one chance. In the outfield Wiggin at centre put up a fine game, catching two difficult flies. O'Malley at left had but one opportunity and this he took. He, however, batted better than any one else on the nine, making three hits...

Harvard defeated Amherst at Amherst Saturday by the score of 4 to 2. The Harvard nine showed great improvement, especially in the fielding, and did not score a single error. The fielding of the Amherst nine was below the standard but their batting was strong. Highlands and Gregory both pitched well but Gregory was poorly supported. The best play of the game was Winslow's stop of Fletcher's hot drive near second. In the fourth inning Highlands stole home on a wild throw by Stearns which went over Tyler's head. The score...

With the exception of third base Harvard's infield played a good game, the best work being done by Whittemore and Scannell. The latter played in splendid form and stopped Highlands's somewhat erratic pitching remarkably well. Corbett made one inexcusable error and fielded the ball in a very slovenly manner, while McCarthy was slow in starting when a hit was made. The score...

...received at Williamstown a few weeks ago. However, the game was not what it ought to have been and the nine as a whole showed great listlessness. This was particularly noticeable in the outfield. Paine and McCarthy were slow in starting after the ball and Corbett made the only error in the game for Harvard. The infield put more life into their play, Whittemore and Winslow putting up the best game. In the sixth inning Wiggin went into the box and the nine immediately settled down to more steady work. Wiggin was well supported by O'Malley, who is quicker...

...nine played the Holy Cross team Saturday afternoon at Worcester and won by sharp fielding and good batting. All Harvard's runs were made in the first three innings on seven timely hits assisted by three bases on balls and three errors. Holy Cross scored in both the eighth and ninth innings, but, in each case, the run was due to an error by O'Malley. Several times the fielding of the nine was sharp and prevented Holy Cross from scoring. Highlands and Scannell were the battery for the first six innings and Wiggin and O'Malley for the rest...
