...plan proposed by the Base-Ball Association for the regulation of expenses and the closer consolidation of athletic interests at Harvard, is worthy of praise. Doubtless, flaws will be found later in some one of the many provisions of this scheme, but in the main it is good. We would suggest that a clause be inserted providing that "no officer of any athletic association shall be a member of this committee." It would also be very desirable to have at least one member of the committee, a graduate, or some one of the instructors interested in college athletics. This...

...next year, if the ball management takes the matter in hand early enough. With the present surplus which the H. U. B. B. C. possesses, the hiring of some building like the old Harvard rink is both feasible and profitable. This building has lain vacant all winter, and could doubtless be hired for next winter for a mere song. To do this would be to take away one of the numerous advantages which Yale and Princeton have over us at present. Although it is too late to do anything this season, we bring this subject before the management, in hopes...

...columns free from the continual petty wrangling seen in many of our smaller exchanges and which is useful only to the managing-editor for filling space. In this attempt to stop unnecessary debating and quarrelling, especially between Harvard and Yale, we have been ably seconded by the News and doubtless in the future will be met more than half way on the path of friendship...

...Princeton, Amherst, Brown and Williams, will be held at the Massasoit House, Springfield, next Friday. The resignations of Princeton and Harvard will be submitted and Yale will probably follow suit. The smaller colleges intend to incorporate Dartmouth and Columbia with their league if they can get them. Dartmouth will doubtless join them, but Columbia has already signified her intention to go with Princeton and Harvard. There will probably be no news in the matter until the meeting Friday, when the colleges withdrawing will immediately decide upon the constitution and details of the new association...

...allow the base-ball management to join any league it thought best, except the one with Princeton and Harvard. It seems most likely that the managers will favor Williams against Columbia in a league of four clubs, while the sentiment of Harvard and Princeton in favor of Columbia will doubtless cause a compromise. It is not likely that any decision will be reached by the Yale managers for some time, as they intend conferring with ex-captains and other Yale graduates who retain their interest in college base-ball...
