Last Friday the CRIMSON published a notice of a reception to new members of the University to be given tonight in Sanders Theatre. Further details of the matter will doubtless be interesting. It should be distinctly understood that the reception is given by the Corporation and Board of Overseers as well as the committee on the reception of students. There will be short addresses by President Eliot, by members of the Corporation, and Board of Overseers, and by B. G. Waters '94, and Maynard Ladd '94. During the evening the University Glee Club will sing a number of songs...
...such evidence can be found it ought not to be withheld. There is, however, another possible explanation of this disappearance of property which may have some foundation. The rule regarding pedlers and book agents in college buildings is not strictly enforced. While many of these men are doubtless perfectly honest, there are others who are open to suspicion. A more rigid enforcement of the house rules would not be a needless precaution or at all amiss...
...disjointed effect of a mere collection of songs. There are twenty songs in all among the most popular of which are "Hamlet's Song." the "Ghost's Song," the topical duet "I have heard so they say" and the "Conspirators Trio." All of these have catchy airs which will doubtless be taken into the repertoire of college whistlers. The music is all good and the book certainly deserves a large sale. Copies may be obtained of Thurston and Briggs and Briggs...
...think further than this victory and consider whether the series of games this spring has accomplished its purpose, it is an open question whether or no the college is to be so heartily congratulated. There has been more or less amusement connected with the series and it has doubtless given pleasure to a good many men. Moreover not a single game has been marred by any discreditable actions such as have been seen on Jarvis Field in past years, last year for instance. Nevertheless, when we consider the purpose for which the series was instituted, we are disappointed...
...denomination. And yet this very difficulty opens at once a field of work where much good may be done. Here at Harvard, above all other places, there ought to be but one level where men of all religions may meet without sectarian prejudices creeping in to create ill feeling. Doubtless we can all stand a little enlightenment on the relations of Protestantism and Roman Catholicism as they are today and we sincerely hope that this last religious movement may pave the way here at college to a clearer understanding between the two sects...
