...Dole is well known both as a writer and a theologian. He graduated from Harvard in 1868 and took the Master's degree in 1870. He then entered the Andover Theological Seminary, from which he graduated in 1872. He was professor of Greek at the University of Vermont until 1874, where he accepted a call to a Portland church; from here he went to the First Congregational Church of Jamaica Plain, which charge he still holds.
