Led by sophomore Steve Krause's triple win and clutch diving by sophomore Dick Eisenberg, the varsity swimming team squeaked by Navy, 57-56, in the Indoor Athletic Building on Saturday, evening its record at 1-1 in the Eastern Inter-Collegiate Swimming League.
Other Harvard wins were scored by Bill Murphy in the three-meter and one-meter diving, by Mike Cahalan in the 50-yard freestyle, and by Dave Powlison in the 200-yard freestyle.
The diving competition disappointed the Crimson, for Harvard ace Bill Murphy had to settle for second place in both the three-meter and the one-meter behind Army's Ed Greene.
The only Crimson sweep was in the three-meter diving, won by Dale Silver with Tom Wallace not far behind. This victory enabled the visitors to go ahead, but then the Cadets rallied to capture the meet in the final events.
