Cornell's premier diver, Paul Steck, broke Harvard's gold monopoly by twisting and tumbling his way to his third consecutive eastern one-meter diving title in yet another record total of 503.0. The Crimson's steady duo of Steve Schramm and Jamie Greacen racked up 33 points by landing second and third, respectively. There had been a great deal of concern over whether Schramm, who hit his head on the board two days ago, would be fit to dive. But the former New Jersey state champion dispelled all fears when he nailed his first two dives...
Then during his final tune-up session yesterday, junior diver Steve Schramm (who captured two fifths in last year's meet) hit his head on the corner of the diving board. Eight stitches closed the gap on his temple, but whether he will dive for the Crimson will not be decided until he consults with doctors this morning...

Performing the old nemesis as the third dive on her list, Pam fully completed the somersaults in the air and knifed into the water nearly perpendicular. The judges' awards of seven, seven, seven-and-one-half, when multiplied with the dive's DD of 2.3 gave her a very respectable total of 49.45 on the dive which had caused so much frustration in the early season. So much for the bombadier squad...
