Iraq War documentaries play to empty seats. It's a tough, tough sell. I'm a big boy, and I know this business will break my heart. We got named to the shortlist for the Oscar, but we could not find a distributor for our film. Everybody walked away from it. Then we were able to arrange a deal with Landmark Theaters, where they agreed to roll it out. Ellen [Spiro] and I would do a Q&A opening night, and the place would be jampacked. It was glorious. And the next day there'd be seven people...

...video ends with a disclaimer that the views expressed "DO NOT REFLECT THE OPINIONS OF ANHEUSER-BUSCH COS INC." - and considering John McCain's wife Cindy is the heiress to an Anheuser-Bush beer distributor fortune, that's probably not a surprise. But an ad that manages to humorously skewer the Bush Administration's record while subtly tying it to McCain's (Stone is watching a McCain speech in the spot's open) and dust off a fondly-remembered if little-mourned catchphrase? The company is also shelling out $1 billion--along with other companies like Time Warner Cable, Google and Intel--to fund a wireless Internet venture formed by Sprint...

Jackson thriller and a Coen brothers farce. On Oct. 10, Fireproof's distributor Samuel Goldwyn Films will add another 200 theaters to the movie's initial 850-theater...

...should know. Zucker virtually invented the spoof film with his '80s comedies Airplane! and The Naked Gun, and with Scary Movie 3 and 4, he has continued to make good money, if not exactly art, in the genre. But snagging a distributor for this red-state satire, which was funded by the late Wisconsin construction billionaire Ken Hendricks and his wife Diane, was no easy task. "We're trying to find movies that the conservative side of the country will desire," says Carol producer Stephen McEveety, whose Mpower Pictures had a low-budget hit last year with the pro-life...
