...first article of the series presents facts, not criticism, explains Mr. Coolidge. Most of them are interesting, and a few of them pleasantly alarming. After promising all the display we are inclined to agree with the author that "the heart of the colleges is round;" that when we are told, for example, that Radcliffe representatives at an intercollegiate debate supported the affirmative in the question: "Resolved: that the recognition of labor unions by employers is essential to successful collective bargaining", all may not be rotten at the core. For, after all, somebody had to support the affirmative, and perhaps...
Shopping for a college elective should afford all the pleasures of commercial shopping. Look around a bit before you invest. Look over the goods on display. Surely no instructor will object to answering questions about the course he offers, or object to a silent auditor in his class. Sample the course before taking it. What do you think of the instructor? Can he give you a fresh point of view? Does his course offer good value to you? Of course it fits somebody--but does it fit you? She has failed at times to display the enthusiasm commonly exhibited elsewhere is receiving visiting teams; the premature refusal on the part of the Student Council to sponsor the conference might also have been interpreted as evidence of coldness. By fostering friendly intercourse between "courteous host and all-approving guest" --to use Byron's words--, Harvard will help to dispel...

A wide range of attractions was advertised,-Beethoven's Ninth Symphony was announced on a very large display poster; and other announcements offered Till Eulenspiegel, Lohengrin, Fledermaus, a wide variety of modern plays, including Erdgeist and Pandora's Box, of unsavory notoriety, and several Revues...
