Sentor Paula Newnham, a member of the British Olympic training team, ran the 800 for the first time in two years, crossing first with a 2:13:4 effort. Sophomore Grace deFries finished third with a 2:19.
In the 800 sophomore Grace deFries passed teammate Jenny Stricker in the final stretch to win by .3 seconds with a 2:15.8, and senior Anita Diaz ran neck-and-neck with a Springfield competitor to manage a gutsy third with a 2:17.7.
Gallagher said she "never really expected to win" her events, especially the 5000 meters which she had never run. The only other Crimson first place came in the two mile relay, run by team captain Becky Rogers, Grace DeFries, Mary Herlihy and Kris Linsley.
