About 150 men went to Providence yesterday and were much disappointed to see Brown defeat our nine by a score of 10 to 6. Game was called at 3.30, with Harvard at the bat. Both nines were blanked in the first inning. In the second inning on errors of Gunderson and Clark, Harvard made one run, and four more in the third on several hits and some more errors by Brown...
...paper was not sent to us for some reason, although it is on our regular exchange list, and so we have not had an opportunity to remark upon certain statements which it contains. It is difficult to reply to conceited schoolboys smarting under the sting of a seyere defeat, and we should never think of noticing them at all, did not such an attack as has been made call for the severest censure. The Andover base-ball nine is famous for never being suited with any umpire except their own, nor ever being able to yield like gentlemen to defeat...
EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON.-The sort of inteference and espionage to which the undergraduates have been subjected during their recent celebrations is just the course to defeat the ends which the faculty have in view. On Saturday night the proctors determined that there should be no bonfire. It was however, but a short time before one was built, and then followed a scene which is not a pleasant subject of contemplation. An officer of the college took upon himself a police duty, which not only derogated from his dignity, but placed him for over an hour in a very awkward position...

Although the last game with Yale was certainly a bad defeat, many causes contributed to this end which have since then been happily overcome. The base running, although by no means perfect, has improved greatly, as has also the fielding and batting. With the remembrance of the Princeton-Harvard game fresh in our minds, we can look forward with confidence to a sharper and more successful play on the part of the crimson...
...Yale papers are cheering on their freshman nine in hopes that their efforts will lead to victory for the blue when harvard '87 meets Yale '87 at base-ball. It seems that much despondency was felt in New Haven when the college heard that their freshmen had been defeated by Williston Academy for the first time in ten years. But this only served to wake up the Yale freshmen. They saw that, unless they worked hard, there would be no chance for them to beat our '87 nine. The thought of losing the coveted seats on the "fence" spurred them...
