...explanation offered by the Amherst nine, in excuse of their failure to appear at Providence on Saturday, seems so satisfactory to every one that the whole difficulty has blown over. By the presentation of a paper signed by members of their faculty, the Amherst nine will call for another date on which to play off the second game with Brown. The satisfaction which we receive by this announcement from Amherst is very great, inasmuch as its raises our chances again for the championship and adds defeats to several of our most dangerous rivals.
