...exterior of Emerson Hall is now entirely completed, and only a bust of Emerson by F. Duveneck, of Indianapolis, remains to be placed in the main entrance. In the interior the plaster, iron stairways and rough wood-work have already been put in, and the flooring of dark pine is being laid. The furniture, most of which is to be of oak, has not yet arrived. The heating plant, to connect with the boiler in Sever, is being installed. It is expected that the building will be ready for inspection by the middle of December...

...decorative plastering have been finished. On the third floor the windows and finished wood-work have been put in, but are still unstained. The flooring of the two upper stories will consist of a thin layer of cement spread over the rough flooring and covered by dark pine. The purpose of the cement is to deaden sound. Almost all of the furniture, consisting of quartered oak book cases, exhibition cases, tables and chairs, has been ordered, but none of it has yet arrived...

In the interior the iron stairways and rough woodwork, consisting of floor beams and studs in the partitions, have been completed, and the lathing and rough plastering has been finished. All the decorative plaster and finished woodwork, however, is still to be put in. Dark pine floors, window and door casings, book cases, exhibition cases, tables and chairs, all of quartered oak, are yet to be made for the libraries and museums of the building. The oak desks and platforms for the lecture rooms will not be put in until some time during the summer...
