Hockey at Cambridge received an enthusiastic start last night when more than 120 candidates for the University and 1924 sevens gathered at the Union. Short talks by Captain E. L. Bigelow '21 and Manager Philip Hofer '21, outlining the work of the season, and a brief blackboard discussion by Coach William H. Claflin '15, were features of the meeting. Active practice will begin on the Charles-bank Rinks as soon as weather permits the University squad being scheduled to open daily workouts in the New Boston Arena after Christmas vacation...
While no intensive training will be required of the men previous to next month, strict training will be expected to start after Christmas. Basketball as a minor sport at the University has become so popular that it is impossible for Coach Wachter to give instruction to all the men who ask for it. Consequently the Department of Physical Education has engaged D. E. Walter 2G.B. to act as assistant coach.
