There was no scrimmage yesterday, the practice consisting of stiff breaking through and charging drill under Coach Cutts and of catching punts by Graydon, Gregory, Newhall, Rand and Starr. The ends, Bird, Blumer Forster, Houston, Kennard and Macdonald, were given their first day's practice in tackling the dummy under Coach Leary's instruction. Kennard and Macdonald made some excelleent dive tackles. Burr kicked several goals from placement from the 35-yard line. Newhall and Parker also practiced kicking, Newhall making some excelleent drop goals from the 25-yard line...

More than 200 men have been training at Soldiers Field this week in preparation for the fall track meets. The majority of these have been working on the track under the direction of Coach Lathrop, while about 45 have been practicing the field events in charge of Coach Quinn. A considerable number of Freshmen have been out and the prospects are good for an interesting Freshman meet this fall...
