Samuel Cox Hooker is 65. He was born in Brenchley, England, studied chemistry at the Royal College of Science in London and the University of Munich. In 1885 he came to the U. S. Two years later he married Mary Elizabeth Owens of Cincinnati, by whom he has two daughters, two sons. For 30 years sugar refining was his interest.
