Sixteen men were dropped from the Freshman baseball squad yesterday afternoon. The squad is still a very large one, however, and will be reduced by 10 or 12 men before out-door practice begins. The work in the cage, which has consisted, for the most part, in sliding bases and stopping grounders, has been reasonably encouraging. The weakest point in the team at present is first base, where there is a great scarcity of promising men who are physically qualified for the position...

...candidates for the lacrosse team have now been working in the Cage at Soldiers Field and in the Gymnasium for nearly a month. While it is impossible to form any exact estimate of the ability of the men until out-door practice begins, their form was improved materially of late.
