Since the men were called out in February, practice has been held in the Cage regularly, until about two weeks ago, when the squad went out doors for the first time. The men have shown steady improvement, and play a good game in the field for so early in the season, although the batting still continues rather weak. The pitches are developing, but with warmer weather should advance more rapidly...

...several of the pitchers have proved their ability to control the various curves. The battle are fast becoming accustomed to the curves and to an increase of speed; and, although they still have a tendency to draw away from the plate, due partly to the poor light of the Cage and also to the inaccuracy with which the balls break over the plate, they are really batting very well for this time of year. Though none of the catchers show great proficiency at present, they are able to hold the curved balls much better than earlier in the season...
...work of the infielders has continued in the Cage practicing base-sliding and double plays. Yesterday, practice was given in catching men between bases. The fielding has improved some what, especially the throwing. A cut was made in the squad yesterday from which the following men were retained, and should report in their usual squads. Any Freshman battery candidates whose names do not appear in the following list, should report with the regular Freshman squad at 4 o'clock...
...University baseball squad has been at work in the cage daily for the past week. All the regular men are practicing now, except H. McCall '09. last year's second baseman, who will not be able to begin work for about a month on account of his broken ankle. The pitchers have been barred curves and will continue to use straight balls for a while. They are all showing a consistent increase of speed. The work of the field candidates is still confined to passing, and to fielding batted grounders. Batting practice for the squad will begin next Monday...
