Cartoonist Bud Fisher (Mutt & Jeff) found many a stray dog last year on his newly-purchased Carmel, N. Y., estate. He ordered his Negro butler, James Bell, to get rid of them. This Butler Bell did, darkly, until only one dog was left. When, last week, he got around to this dog, Mr. Fisher's caretaker, Frank Candee, protested. Caretaker Candee had become attached to the dog. Butler Bell paid no heed, raised his rifle, killed the creature. Caretaker Candee, irate, got out a knife.
