After a long drill in passing and shooting the Freshman and second hockey teams lined up for a brisk 40-minute scrimmage at the Stadium rinks yesterday afternoon. The Freshmen had considerably the better of the contest, defeating the second team 3 to 0. The score would undoubtedly have been larger had it not been for the excellent work of Whitmarsh, the second team goal-tend. The Freshmen outskated the second team men and their stick-work and shooting were far superior. 1918 should give a good account of itself when it meets Pomfret next Saturday...
Following drill in passing and shooting the University hockey team had a brisk 20-minute scrimmage with the B. A. A. seven at the Arena yesterday afternoon which resulted in a 2 to 1 defeat. But the University seven showed unusually good team-work and their shooting was the best thus far this season. The stick-work, however, was not all that might be desired...
...University hockey team defeated the Freshman seven 3 to 0 in the Arena yesterday afternoon in a brisk 25-minute scrimmage. Coach Winsor had the playing surface of the Arena reduced to the same size as the St. Nicholas rink in New York where the University will meet Princeton next Saturday and the speed in consequence was considerably increased. The Freshmen have an unusually strong team this year and it was some time before the University began to score. Captain Claflin finally took the puck down the rink and drove it past Gwathmey on a clever, short shot...
...University held the B. A. A. to a 0 to 0 tie in a brisk ten-minute scrimmage at the Arena yesterday afternoon. Clean, hard playing with more team-work than the University has hitherto shown characterized the contest. The second string men were then put in for twenty minutes more, the final score being 4 to 3 in favor...
...Friday, teams A and B had a brisk, hard-fought scrimmage in which both sevens showed to advantage. Wylde received a broken nose which may keep him out of the game for a few days, Stanton taking his place. Curtis returned to the line-up and played a hard and consistent game. The stick-work of the players is not all that might be desired, but with the rapid development in team-play and accuracy in passing shooting this defect should be overed to some extent by Wednesday when University will meet the Queen's College seven at the Arena...
