This hymn from a Blue Book was in yesterday's mail and had such a touching taint of truth in it that to forbid its inclusion here would be more than criminal. But, though examination monitors are rather cheerless brethren. I have just found that there is an even worse outfit--the Baptists. In Herr Mencken's monthly a long article by James D. Bernard dissolves any of my fond hopes for the Baptists of the world. In truth the casual reader of Mr. Bernard's essay could easily believe that the only difference between Baptist and Moron is philologic...

I don't suppose many of them could tell me just why "Bozo" Snyder and "Sliding" Billy Watson are the leaders in that sacred and ancient art--burlesque, or why those two brethren of the buskin bow to Boston audiences at the same time. Like many even bonnier brethren he must watch the dust collect upon his once bright leaves while bastard epigrams evince a quick decay...
...Council of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York made ready plans for four "Million-Dollar-Days" (Nov. 16, 17, 18 and 19), on which Jewish trade committeemen will attempt to extract a total of $4,000,000 for charitable purposes from their brethren. The names of Col. Michael Friedsam (of B. Altman & Co.) and of Arthur Lehman were honorably prefixed to Million-Dollar-Days Nov. 16 and Nov. 17 respectively...
