Pringle's pool record came in the 200-yard breast stroke, the next-to-last event of the meet. In spite of the effects of winning the individual medley and the 200-yard backstroke earlier in the contest, he pressed on to a brilliant 2:18.1 clocking, breaking the record of 2:20.0 set last year by Princeton great Gardiner Green.
