...secret reports, and withheld information have become the norm. Students are making a genuine effort to work with University Hall, yet the College administration’s modus operandi shows a blatant lack of respect for the student body it so frequently praises.Quite simply, University Hall’s behavior has to change...
...Reasonable Kudos to Michael Kinsley for highlighting the relevance of leaders' religious beliefs [Sept. 17]. Literal dogmatic beliefs of any kind can lead to behavior ranging from the benignly bizarre to the frighteningly dangerous. When people seek truth based on faith rather than evidence, their decisions are connected to reality only coincidentally and are often divorced from it. The risks that we all face when powerful people act on untested beliefs should be obvious. I can only hope that one day the majority will embrace candidates for whom reason, rather than God, is their adviser. Brendan Cameron Vancouver...

Admittedly, obesity can be caused by many factors, but it ultimately boils down to a person consuming far more calories than he burns—a habit that super-sized portions feed. A 2005 study in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior showed that portion size influences overall food intake as much as taste; that is, if served more, someone will eat more, regardless of how hungry he actually is. A person will even serve himself more out of a large container than out of a small one. Interestingly, a 2003 study...
