...finest concert we have ever had here was given about two weeks ago, at which Beethoven's famous septuor was performed, and also that wonderful octette by Schubert. Bernard Listeman and seven of Boston's finest orchestral players rendered these works beautifully, and it was gratifying to notice how well they seemed to be appreciated. There was, happily, much less whispering than usual at concerts, and those who care but little for music were impressed by the grandeur of Beethoven and the very soul of melody in the Schubert octette, which the musicians played even better than the septuor. ...meetings are held about once a month and the girls read and study the different plays with great pleasure and profit. Two literaries existed last year, the Phi Sigma and Zeta Alpha, but, sad to tell, they were disbanded and now Wellesley can boast of only four societies - the Beethoven, Microscopical and Missionary.
