Brustein's characters speak their lines at breakneck speed and with near-feverish emotion to give Middleton's rhyming text the language and feel of everyday speech. No stuffy parlor play this...

...first you don't succeed . . . From Battlestar Galactica to this season's V, science-fiction shows have stubbornly failed to take off in prime time. CBS apparently can deduce no earthly reason why, so it is trying with Otherworld.
