...same time he is a complex man: on one side he needs to be loved by all; on another he is a machine incessantly producing charm; on still another he has the wisdom of an Indian sage. He is like one of those figures of the painter Francis Bacon who show on their faces all that is happening in their guts-he has the same devastated plasticity." (Two Bacon paintings appear under the credits on Tango, and several scenes in the film were visually inspired by his work...
...Francisco report in Lancet that sodium nitrite, a preservative mixed into some hot dogs, sausages and cured meats, can cause "hotdog headaches." The pair base their findings on the study of a 58-year-old man with a seven-year history of painful, nonthrobbing headaches whenever he ate frankfurters, bacon, salami or ham. No other food seemed to induce the headaches, but randomly administered doses of sodium nitrite did. The doctors are not sure how sodium nitrite causes the headaches, but have no doubt as to how they can be avoided. Once their patient excluded hot dogs and cured meats...

The acting is more than competent and the blocking works unobtrusively and well. The elaborately eccentric set makes funny noises and spouts smoke on cue what more could you want. As well as reflecting the characters the costumes are comic statements in themselves. The show...
...does a Boston Brahmin take so well to being a ham?" a reporter inquired of Robert Grovesner Gardner. "Simple," he replied. "Some go ham. We go proscuito." As he skated off he was heard to mutter. "Ten pig wedding, five pig funeral, with five pounds of bacon cleared." Then this little proscuito went wee, wee, wee all the way home...
