When the black jerseys were called on the field yesterday, Team A lined up against them as follows: Hartley and Janin, ends; Hobson and Ladd, tackles; Hubbard and Brocker, guards; Bradford, center; Conlon at quater, while Rouillard, Chapin and Churchill completed the backfield. For almost half an hour the encounter lasted, the only score coming when Churchill broke loose in mid-field and dashed 35 yards before he was downed a scant dozen yards before the seconds' goal. On the next play Conion tossed a pass to Howe who tore 8 yards for a touchdown...
There is plenty of power in Coach Fisher's first-string backfield and he has at his disposal excellent substitute material. The one big trouble has been the inability of the eleven to push the ball over when within comparatively easy scoring distance. In every contest to date the Crimson has swept down the field in beautiful form only to be kept at the last minute from making a touchdown on account of a fumble, a penalty, or a pure let-down in the offensive strength. It is this fault that the Crimson coaching staff and players will...

On account of his recent injury Gehrke's physical condition does not make it certain that he will be able to play through the entire contest this afternoon. If needed, Fitts will be available to take his place in the backfield. He has still much to learn at his new end position and Coach Fisher will probably not risk putting him in at wing today...

The guards and backfield would tip the scales alike. Such a plan, needless to say, would simply do away with football as it is played today. The game might be played under conditions that appeared more equal, but the tactics would change; and as for a college possessing teams in assorted sizes,--well, all that is not football...
...Crimson secondary defense has also been bolstered up by the appearance of Jenkins and Gehrke in the backfield. Coordination between the backs and the line was not conspicuous last Saturday on the defense. It will have to be tomorrow if the University expects to stop Captain Kyle, Indiana's 190-pound fullback anywhere short of its goal-line...
