After visiting New Caledonia, the Loyalty Islands, and the New Hebrides during June and July in connection with his Shaler Memorial Study of Coral Reefs in the South Pacific, Professor W. M. Davis attended during August the Australian meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science at Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. He was given the degree of Doctor of Science by the University of Melbourne.
