Died. Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens, 74, famed British architect, head of the Royal Academy's committee for London's reconstruction; in London. Round-faced, white-mustached Lutyens, key designer of the Raj's splendiferous capital at New Delhi, was also the Protestant designer of Liverpool's Cathedral of Christ the King (Roman Catholicism's largest-to-be) and London's Whitehall Cenotaph (the Empire's preeminent World War I memorial).
