DIED. James Francis Cardinal Mclntyre, 93, Archbishop of Los Angeles from 1948 until his retirement in 1970; in Los Angeles. At 29, Mclntyre traded in his option on a partnership in a Wall Street firm for the seminary and the priesthood.
