David Cameron, the Tory leader, apologized for the law at a gay-pride event last June. In October, the Conservatives even organized an official "gay night" at their annual party conference. Among gay activists, debate still rages over whether leaders who have not gone public with their sexuality should do so. Girard, the deputy mayor of Paris, knows several elected officials who keep their sexuality private. "By not accepting their homosexuality publicly, closeted politicians are holding back progress," he says...

Crimson wrestling hopes one day to be an elite program, but if Saturday was any indication, the squad has a long way to go. Harvard traveled to Arlington, Texas this weekend for the annual Lone Star Duals, a high-level tournament featuring some of the nation’s best programs. Unfortunately for the Crimson (2-6-1), the three teams on its slate proved too much for a depleted roster, as Harvard fell to No. 22 Arizona State, 39-12, followed by equally brutal defeats at the hands of No. 10 Oklahoma, 44-6, and Utah Valley...

That was the main message behind the one-day Investor Summit on Climate Risk at the U.N. on Jan. 14. The event connected green luminaries like Al Gore with the unfamous people who direct hundreds of billions in private investment. This was the fourth annual summit, but it may have been the most fortuitously timed of the lot - occurring after Copenhagen, before the U.S. Senate begins its real work on climate legislation this year and just as investors begin to climb out of the recession. The feeling at the session was hopeful - investors, especially large-scale institutional funds that need...
