...University Library has recently acquired a collection of rare Dutch pamphlets written by Sir George Downing, M.A., 1642. They relate to the Anglo-Dutch wars of 1663-67 and 1672-74, by which the colony of New Netherlands was wrested from the Dutch and renamed New York. Downing was the second student to graduate from Harvard and became Scoutmaster-general under Cromwell and later minister to Holland.
