...intercollegiate ones would probably have been changed. The meeting was well handled, twenty-one events being put through in two hours. The first race was the '91 120-yards hurdle race. Bell and Bodley were the entries. Bodley after clearing the first hurdle merely acted as pacemaker, running along outside the hurdles. Bell's time was 17 3-5 seconds, which beats the old Harvard record-17 3-4 seconds. Bell is a good hurdler, and if he would only practice has a show of getting a place in the New York game. ...very sad accident occurred last Saturday to one of the Chapel choir boys. Cyrus Furbish was riding along the street on his bicycle when he lost control of it and fell under the heels of a horse standing attached to a wagon near the sidewalk. The horse started, dragging the boy with his machine under the wheels. The boy received injuries so serious that death resulted Sunday morning...

...blockade of street cars began Monday evening; by Tuesday not a car was running. Along the main lines might be seen cars which, having got fastened in a drift had been abandoned by the drivers. These were used as resting places by weary and snowbound pedestrians. Several cars were snowed up in the tunnel of the Fourth Avenue Surface Railroad. The passengers got out, but provender had to be lowered for the horses. In some of the down-town stores, it was thought best to have the employees sleep on the premises, as no means of conveyance could be gotten...
