...tailgate is not being canceled. It's just being relocated,"Campus Life Fellow John T. Drake '06 said. The new location will be on the Boston side of the Charles River and the same alcohol and tailgates rules for the Ohiri Field tailgate will apply to the new location, according to Drake. He added that the new location will be decided tomorrow after a series of meetings...
...think it’s very simple, actually. Rather than spend $60 on bus fare, sleep on the floor of some dining hall, and eat half-cooked hot dogs at an alcohol-free tailgate, they can actually have fun at a football game in their hometown and then go home for Thanksgiving after classes end on Friday. Note that fun does not equal getting obnoxiously drunk, but rather not being forced to deal with beverage authorization teams, long lines, and the Boston Police Department (BPD). The calculus involved is not complicated, and, while I certainly plan on going...
...that intensity.” Drake said some aspects of the tailgate might have to be modified if there is heavy rain. For example, he said, Harvard might implement restrictions on vehicles driving on waterlogged fields. In a change from past years, the College has banned undergraduates from bringing alcohol into the tailgate area. But student leaders said they are determined to have fun despite the restrictions and potential foul weather. “If it’s absolutely pouring and the College cancels the tailgate, we will definitely be at The Game,” said Quincy House...
...goes to die and students go to die virgins. Our single tailgate became a liquor-less, 21+, wholesome, Panopticon party. Sort of like bible camp. The irony of the situation is, well, sort of hilarious. So, revel in the humor and know that field ± sporting event + alcohol + defiant community = fun. The utter absence of Yale students means more alcohol for Harvard students and fewer pranks that nobody notices. (It’s like the mime in a forest question. If a prank happens in a stadium, and nobody sees it, does it happen? No.) And the new restrictions...
...Allston side. It is only that one game a year that seriously impacts the quality of life in the neighborhood of Allston. When you have a game that is supposed to be a football game and you have 25 students carted off of Ohiri Field for drinking too much alcohol, then I think that becomes a public safety issue for the city to deal with. Plus, public urination in full view of the residents who live nearby and to all of the spectators is not going to be tolerated, and that is what we have witnessed in the past events...
