...AUGUST 20th, at the Capitoline Grounds, Brooklyn, in the games of the Putnam Athletic Club, the well-known amateur sprinter, W. C. Wilmer, broke his leg at the finish of the one-hundred-yards race. The ground beyond the end of the sprinting course is a steep embankment, and Wilmer could not stop himself in time to avoid injury.
