Aspects of final club culture are indeed contrary to the values of this College, and that is why the Staff's logic is flawed. Closing the clubs to non-members will not reduce sexism or social elitism. Because this trend is unlikely to precipitate the demise of the clubs, supporting it is akin to sticking one's head in the sand. According to Adam A. Sofen '01, co-chair of the B.G.L.T.S.A, cultural presumption in the sphere of sexuality manifests its itself as "hetero-sexism," which is "the presumption that everyone is straight."
