...poetry is good, on the whole, although P.A.Hutchinson's "The Secret of the Sphinx"remains mysterious even after the revelations-but that may be the reader's fault. There is a striving after expression in the two pieces, "Love and Death" and "Love by the Sea," by J.H.Wheelock, but the effort was worth the making, and the result is not unsatisfactory. The "De Senectute" of W.Tinekom-Fernandez is distinetly good, and the "Fair Harvard" of B.A.Gould, while unequal, has a lift and a swing that take the attention and keep it. J.T.Addison's "Solomon's Ship" is suggestive of color...

...Haven, Conn., November 20, 1907. In the secret practice today the university football team had a 20-minute scrimmage with the freshman eleven. The men were coached in defense against the Harvard plays, which were used exclusively by the freshmen. The university team and substitutes will leave tomorrow afternoon at 1.30 o'clock for Auburndale, Massachusetts, where they will stay until the day of the game...

There was no scrimmage but the men were given a long, hard preliminary drill, consisting of the usual breaking through, punting, catching punts and tackling. In the signal practice, the new plays were run through and much attention was given to the signals themselves...

...University football squad was given a long secret practice yesterday, and the men were kept on the field until it was impossible to follow the course of the ball on account of darkness. There was no scrimmage but the preliminary work was much harder than usual. The practice as a whole was most encouraging. Coach Cutts put the line men through a stiff breaking through drill, and the ends were given lots of defensive work by Coaches Campbell and Leary. Coach Campbell also took a squad of ends outside of the Stadium and gave them a hard drill at tackling...
