What do the authorities of Yale mean by putting out at this time news of the thirty-six degrees of Doctor of Philosophy granted to students doing special research? The intention can scarcely be to attempt to offset Yale's football victory over Princeton. What are Doctors of Philosophy compared with makers of touchdowns? There would seem to be danger that magnifying merely scholastic news may tend to throw the pale cast of thought over the team when it goes to meet Harvard...

Turning to Princeton, one reads the same day that not nearly so many graduates now enter the ministry as formerly used to be the case. But will that reconcile the undergraduates to having had a gloomy football year? Many Princeton alumni who afterward pounded the cushions of a pulpit learned how to do it partly on the gridiron. What Princeton needs is not more clergymen among her alumni, but more mighty men of valor on her football team...

...Haven. Conn., Nov. 18--George Connors, trainer of the Yale football team, announced tonight that no serious injuries had been incurred by the Elis in the Princeton game, and that excepting for a few bruises, all the members of the team were in fine condition. Albie Booth remained in the Yale infirmary today and Coach Connors stated that Booth's torn muscle would be well by Saturday. Booth will not be allowed to attend classes for several days but it is expected that he will be on the sidelines at the practice tomorrow afternoon...

Much discussion has taken place in the press concerning whether Phillips, substitute center for Palmer, called the signals during the second half of the Princeton game. The Yale Athletic Association stated last night that Phillips acted in this capacity, after McLennan was substituted for Bob Hall. As McLennan is the third substitute quarterback, and had not been calling signals during the season, Phillips was asked to direct the plays and give the numbers when the ball was to be snapped
