...K.L.A. called for the complete separation of the province of Kosovo from Serbia on the grounds that most people living there were of Albanian ethnicity and had lost whatever autonomy they once had. This came directly into conflict with the Serb-nationalist idea that Kosovo is "the cradle of Serbian civilization."
